The ideal design approach is a dynamic process that proposes a symbiotic human intervention with ecological communities. A successful design solution will respond to a multitude of environmental and human factors such as climate, soils, topography, history, circulation, scales and time. The site, based on the needs of the user, should be thought of as a three-dimensional space and experience, where natural environmental patterns and processes are represented by landscape forms in abstract and literal ways. The use of native and adapted species should be used to create a “natural” landscape in a way that is low maintenance.
In my work, I always try to preserve and enhance the natural assets of the land. I prefer native over exotic plants, although I value adapted species in suitable applications. The practical applications of my strong horticultural background and hands-on work experience are balanced with knowledge of ecology, design theory and graphics.
